Kuki Gallmann was born near Venice and studied political sciences at the University of Padua. In 1972 she moved to Kenya wich her husband and son, who were both to die in tragic circumstances. As a tribute
to their memory she founded the Gallmann Memorial Foundation, which promotes and sponsors the education of Kenyans. An environmentalist, poet and writer, she scill lives on her ranch in Kenya, Ol ari Nyiro, with her daughter, Sveva.
Her other books are a collection of poetry in Iralian, Jl Colore del Vento, African Nights and her autobiography, / Dreamed of Africa, an international bestseller in eighteen languages and the subject of a forthcoming major film.
